When in Sri Lanka, chances are pretty high that what you see around the next corner will take your breath away, but this is a collection of the most visited and scenic locations in all of Sri Lanka, a few must-dos on any itinerary.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress

Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens
Want a tour of one of the finest Botanical Gardens in Asia? Travel in style by rail or road to the beautiful and historic city of Kandy, and on the way make a stop at this beautiful botanical garden. At an elevation of 500 meters above sea level, it is located just 6km away from Kandy, the home of the Temple of the Tooth. There are over 4000 labeled species of flora at this extensive park, and locals claim you need more than a day to truly walk the length and breadth of the extensive grounds, first established by the British.

You may not be able to spend the entire day, but stroll among the lush gardens in the early morning or late afternoon, and let your tour guide show you the highlights, such as the Orchid House, Cabbage Palm Avenue, the artificial lake and Spice Garden.

Nuwara Eliya

Known as Sri Lanka’s very own Little England, Nuwara Eliya is a cool climate situated about 2000m above sea level, surrounded by lush tea plantations. This location was once the pleasure gardens of the colonial invaders, who built many English bungalows and buildings in the area. If sandy shores and tropical forests are not for you, then you can make yourself at home amidst the cool breezes of Nuwara Eliya. The season, from March to May, is always a buzzing hotspot, and many tourists can be seen during the season’s peak in April.
